We’ve recently discovered the joy of pickleball, and even though we’re still learning the ropes and our shots might be a little wild, we’re absolutely hooked! There’s something so addictive about the friendly competition and the surprisingly good workout you get.
It was great news when the City of Bay St. Louis officially opened these two fantastic pickleball courts in McDonald Park in 2025. Their location is perfect for a family outing – conveniently situated right next to the kids’ splash pad and the climbing park. This means while some of us are battling it out on the court, others can be cooling off or enjoying the play structures.
One of the best things is that the courts are completely free for public use. If you have your own paddles and balls, you’re all set. But don’t worry if you’re new to the game or just want to try it out; you can easily borrow equipment from the local library with a simple $25 membership, which is a fantastic option.
It’s quickly become one of our favorite local spots for some active fun. We often round up our teenage kids, head over to the park, and enjoy a few lively games. There’s always a good laugh, a bit of friendly rivalry, and plenty of fresh air. And, to make a great outing even better, our post-pickleball tradition is to head over and cool off with some ice cream at The Creole Creamery.
